You are strongly urged to avoid Sharp Web Services
Our visitors have had horrible experiences with Sharp Web Services -- apparently Sharp disappeared without a trace, leaving all of their customers in the dark. Read reviews here.

Back-up your site regardless of whether your hosting company "says" they will do it for you. Believe me, you may appreciate it some day.

Ranked #5 - Yahoo Web Hosting

Company Description
Yahoo offers web hosting that is targeted towards the small business owner. Being the Internet's number one brand, we can safely assume that Yahoo currently hosts in the tens of thousands of customers. The company itself has been around since 1997, has relatively easy-to-use tools to help you get your site started, and has great uptime and support. It's no doubt that Yahoo would live up to its promises as they have shareholders who are watching their every move.

Hosting Costs
Yahoo's web hosting definitely does not come cheap. For $11.95 a month, Yahoo offers 50 MB of disk space, 20 GB of bandwidth, 10 POP3 e-mails, and support for FrontPage. Unfortunately this plan does not allow you to build any pages in PHP, MySQL, or use SSI. This plan is evidently geared towards the beginner webmaster. One highlight about the plan is that it offers Yahoo's free "Site Builder", which has over 300 web templates for you to choose from and helps the beginner webmaster establish his or her site for the first time. Yahoo also offers a free domain name if you purchase hosting for a full year, but no money-back guarantee is available.

Customer Service
Yahoo offers a unique self-help section where questions can be typed into a search box and Yahoo brings up a list of mostly relevant answers. Yahoo! also offers excellent e-mail support, which is ONLY available through their control panel. A toll-free telephone number is also available. Customer service is one of Yahoo's greatest strengths.

Control Panel
Yahoo offers their own intuitive control panel that makes it very easy to manage your web site and see how much disk space and bandwidth you've used up in the current month. Also available in the panel are a number of free third-party scripts, promotion tools, and of course Yahoo's Site Builder. Very impressive panel as a whole.

Data Center
Unlike other hosting companies, Yahoo hasn't released the location of their data center -- probably because they fear intrusion attempts of some sort. But what we do know, however, is that their systems are monitored around the clock and that they devote significant resources to maintaining highly reliable facilities.

Closing Argument
There is no doubt that Yahoo provides an excellent hosting service. Their servers have outstanding uptime and support is also very reliable. Yahoo's control panel is easy to use, and the company also offers an intuitive self-help section. Based on their lack of features, however, they are geared more towards webmasters who are new to the web hosting world.
